At Least We Have Raspberries

Because of the cool spring, followed by our hot and dry summer, our gardening season has not been a very good one.  Our two apple trees have zero apples on them.  Our carrot crop was an embarrassing disaster, and I only got about half of our normal amount of peas and strawberries.

The only bountiful harvest was our raspberries which seemed to have thrived, and we have not been able to keep up with them, despite picking them every evening and inviting the neighbors to help themselves.

Our two apple trees are the real disappointment.  I can’t remember just how many fruit trees we have planted over the years.  In the past we have had some bumper crops both of plums and apples, but our plum trees, cherry trees, and two other apple trees have since died because of weather extremes, leaving us with just the two apple trees, and like I said, they have not produced any apples this year.

Happily, we do have raspberries-- Lots of them.
