Bears Along The Highway

We had to drive the 135 miles (220kms) up to Prince George yesterday for a dental appointment.  The snow has finally all melted along the side of Highway 16, allowing the grass to grow.  The grass attracts the bears, hungry after months of winter hibernation, so it wasn’t a big surprise to see some bears grazing along the side of the highway.

Yesterday we spotted three bears on our way home. The record number of bears that we have seen on one trip is eight.  We got that high count because several of the bears we saw that time, had cubs.

Making the drive to Prince George is fairly boring because most of what you can see are trees.  Its always nice to spot some wildlife (bears, moose, coyote, lynx, etc. (once we saw two Grizzlies frolicking along the side of the road), because that perks up the drive.
