Geese Along the Open Water

We were surprised yesterday when we drove down the road to see all of the geese lined up along the edge of the open water.  The geese who are on their northern migration, arrived in the Robson Valley only to find it was still winter up here with very little open water to be had.  As a result they made use of what little there was by lining up along this open stream of the Fraser River.
I took these photos through the car windshield because I didn’t want to get out of the car because that might disturb them, and I figured they had been expending a lot of energy to get this far without much food.  There were quite a flock of them along the 2/3rds of a kilometer stretch of the river that ran beside the road.
