We drove up to Prince George yesterday. During all of our trips up Highway 16, we kept an eye out for wildlife. Not only do we watch out for wildlife that could dart out into the road, but we watch out just for the thrill of seeing wild creatures.
Yesterday on our trip up and back we saw seven black bears on the margins of the highway eating the young shoots of grass that were starting to come up on the right of way. I think seven bears is about a record for us. These were individual bears, often we see a sow bear with cubs, which rapidly increases the tally.
It is always good to see that the wild creatures have survived the hard winter.
