Back on June 20th I blogged about this well house precariously sitting on the edge of the Fraser River, which was eroding away the ground under it. As long as I remember, a small grove of birch trees surrounded the well house, but the last of them had disappeared earlier this year, after being undercut by the constant eating away of the bank, by the river.
Well, what seemed inevitable has now happened.
Yesterday I drove into town to pick up some Chinese takeout, and as I crossed the Fraser River bridge, I glanced over to where the well house sat and noticed that the well house was no longer there, it was floating in the river. The white tank you see with it, is the air pressure tank from the well’s water pump.
I guess the Zimmerman farm will have to come up with a new way to get water for their cattle. I knew Mr. Zimmerman was very concerned about the way the Fraser was eroding the river bank, not only threatening his well house, but also and eventually, the nearby highway bridge.
