My brothers and sisters have made their way up to Canada for a visit, and so I have been taking them around to show them some of the interesting places that are close at hand. Sadly a blanket of smoke from distant forest fires has obscured our mountains, so there is no reason the visit anything that involves seeing mountains.
All of the smoke doesn’t really effect walking through some of the special forests around here, so I took our visitors for a walk through the West Twin Old Growth Area, a spectacular cedar forest covered with moss on the ground. I am always surprised at how quiet it is walking through the ancient cedar and hemlock trees.
Below is a photo of my brothers and sisters as they emerged from the dark forest.
