The whole time my visiting brothers and sisters have been here the Robson Valley has been blanketed with smoke from forest fires which has obscured our mountains. This morning the smoke seemed a little clearer, so I drove my visitors up to the Halfway Point on McBride Peak to look down at the Valley. The photos show what we saw.
The road up to the Halfway Point has always been a rough ride, but recent work has been done to smooth it out and found it better than I have ever seen it in the thirty-five years I have lived here. I drove my pickup truck, and my brothers rode in the bed of the truck on top of some old sofa cushions, which made the bumping and jarring more tolerable.
While driving up to the Halfway, we passed through a large area of burnt trees from the forest fire that tore across McBride Peak two years ago.
The smoke still looked pretty thick at both ends of the Valley, but at least you could make out McBride through the haze. Photo below.
