Yesterday was one of those really enjoyable community events. It was a fundraiser for the Dunster Museum that took place in Milne’s beautiful and interesting yard. David Milne, a very serious gardener with a special interest in succulents, had for a long while been propagating some of his exotic collection. Those, he generously donated to the Dunster Museum, and yesterday they went on sale.
Looking at his plants was like looking at a display in a botanical garden. They were so exotic and unique, and the fundraiser was a great success, making over $400 in our tiny isolated community of 800 residents. After picking out their plants, shoppers milled around the Milne’s yard amazed at David’s rose garden, water features, and alpine plants. Of course, like all such local events, a lot of time was also spent socializing with friends and acquaintances.
That is David sitting and answering questions in the photo above. Pedro, standing by the plants, was the sales clerk for the event, and the head of the Dunster Museum. The photos were all taken after the rush was over.
Below are some photos of some of David’s exotic succulents.
