Still Some Days of Color Left

I was surprised yesterday when the sun was shining, the sky was blue, the temperature very comfortable, and there was still had a bit of yellow foliage cottonwood trees.  We had just gone through a long week of showers, rain, dull overcast skies, and strong winds that stripped a lot of the already faded leaves off of the trees.  It seemed like that was going to be our fate until things got even worse and the cold temperatures hit.

One of the hardest things for me during the winter, is the lack of color.  It seems that our winter palette consists of only white, gray, brown, or black, and I really need to be uplifted by some color.  Of course, we do periodically get some intense blue skies, but those are often accompanied with frigid temperatures, so it was so nice to get an unexpected bright sunny day that illuminated the greens, yellows, blues, and even the last touches of red that are still around.

I will enjoy the colors as long as we have them, knowing that each day now, they will be losing part of their vibrancy.
